Our Story

Atelier Armbruster is a New York City based design office focusing on minimal and modern designs that cater to the unique nature of each project.

In a city such as New York, environments are constantly changing and evolving. Many of our projects involve partial to full renovations of residential and commercial spaces, as well as additions to townhouses and single family homes. While all of our renovations focus on modernizing the spaces, we take care to recognize and incorporate the valuable historical features of the individual projects.

Atelier Armbruster was founded in 2010 by Yaiza A. Armbruster after leaving her previous position of six years at Selldorf Architects. Before that, she worked for other architecture firms in a number of different countries. Yaiza credits much of her strong understanding of space and attention to detail to her German education where she trained as an architect and engineer (Dipl. Ing.) in her native city of Munich, Germany. 

Since then, Yaiza and her team have worked on a range of private residential and commercial projects in from New York City to the Hamptons, the Hudson River Valley, and other countries such as Germany and Mexico.

At Atelier Armbruster we know how to navigate the line between hard-edge modernism and warm, serene spaces. Our projects are guided by Yaiza’s philosophy that beyond the surface and the aesthetics of an interior, spaces have to work for the people who live or work in them.

The Team

At Atelier Armbruster our core team is made up of architects and designers from a wide range of backgrounds and educations. We also regularly work with a trusted group of independent contractors to perfectly meet each project’s particular needs.
